St. Petersburg will celebrate World Tourism Day with the Natural Travel festival-fair. The event will take place from September 22 to October 1 on Manezhnaya Square. The fair will feature gastronomic specialties, products of local craftsmen, and products of farms from the Silver Necklace regions of Russia.
One of the organizers of the festival, the city Committee for Tourism Development, reported this on its website.
“A large and interesting program has been compiled for visitors: entertainment, lectures, master classes. The Northern Capital Fair is a small journey through the Silver Necklace of Russia. Everyone will be able to get impressions of the regions in a concentrated form, choose a direction for the future and then go there for a more detailed acquaintance,” the message quotes the words of the head of the Committee for Tourism Development of St. Petersburg, Sergei Korneev.
On weekends, the festival will feature performances by street theater artists, and in the evenings, visitors will enjoy a concert program with the participation of jazz groups and cover bands.
The fair will also feature photo zones in the form of installations made from natural materials. And the most passionate photographers will be able to complete the “PhotoQuest”.
And on September 27, World Tourism Day will be solemnly celebrated on Manezhnaya Square in St. Petersburg.
“By the way, the location for the Natural Travel festival-fair was not chosen by chance. At the end of the 19th century, exhibitions of farm and agricultural products were held in Manege under the auspices of the Imperial Russian Society of Horticulture and the Russian Poultry Society,” the committee noted.
The Silver Necklace of Russia is an interregional tourism project. It consists of a set of routes connecting 11 regions of the Northwestern Federal District, which preserve unique historical and cultural monuments, as well as natural sites, including those included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The project has been implemented since 2012; this year Solvychegodsk, Arkhangelsk region, became the capital of the Silver Necklace.
