A new air route was launched, which directly connected St. Petersburg and the largest city of the United Arab Emirates, the international transport hub - Dubai. On January 21, 2023, Flydubai launched regular flights to these destinations. This was announced by the official tourist portal of the city on the Neva Visit Petersburg.
“The company “Air Gates of the Northern Capital”, which manages Pulkovo Airport, has agreed with the airline on daily flights between the two cities. The air harbor of St. Petersburg has become the ninth airport in the Flydubai route network in Russia.
Flydubai is a major carrier flying to 110 destinations in 53 countries. Direct flights to Dubai make St. Petersburg more accessible for guests from the Middle East, Africa, India and other Asia-Pacific regions, the portal notes.
“The Middle East is among the promising markets for promoting St. Petersburg as a center for international inbound tourism. According to experts, tourists from the UAE spend on average six times more than travelers from other countries. They are interested in culture, events, gastronomy, exotic northern latitudes, specialized areas of medical tourism,” says Visit Petersburg.
At the same time, there is a visa-free regime for UAE citizens for short-term trips to the Russian Federation. And since 2018, the Visit Petersburg Middle East tourist office has been operating in Dubai.
