The largest winter exhibition of tulips in Russia will run from February 11 to March 12 in the Botanical Garden of Moscow State University Aptekarsky Ogorod.
About 10,000 tulips, daffodils, crocuses, hyacinths, muscari, lilies, onions, peach, lilies of the valley, lilacs, snowdrops, cherries, sakura, magnolias, almonds and other spring plants will bloom for the exhibition two months ahead of their natural time.
“Forcing the plant to bloom at any scheduled time helps a tricky technique called “forcing”: special conditions are created for the bulbs, thanks to which they wake up. "Forcing" requires knowledge and skill from the gardener," the press service of the garden said.
This year, "Spring Rehearsal" will be held for the first time in the old Subtropical greenhouse.
Spectacular flower photo zones are also waiting for the guests of the exhibition.
In addition, until March, the largest festival of orchids, carnivorous plants and succulents Tropical Winter is held in the Aptekarsky Ogorod, where over 1000 orchids from all over the world are presented.
