The reconstruction will increase the capacity of the checkpoint, which is currently the busiest in Russia, several times over. This was announced by Sergei Kiriyenko, Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Russia.
"An additional plot of land has been allocated, the territory is being expanded, but we have agreed that the stages will be implemented so that by this season, well, at least what can be done quickly, such simple but important things for people, like a sufficient number of toilets, access to drinking water, benches, more convenient navigation, faster passage, filling out customs documents - this is what will be implemented as quickly as possible," Sergei Kiriyenko noted.
It is planned that the capacity of the checkpoint will increase by 9.5 times for transport and almost three times for people. This will allow up to 14.13 thousand vehicles and up to 80.5 thousand people to pass through per day.
