Despite a cyclone bringing heavy rains, thunderstorms, hail, and squally winds since June 15, Sochi's emergency services report no major incidents caused by the severe weather. The adverse conditions are expected to continue through June 16 and 17, with potential for rapid water level rises and increased risk of mudslides in mountainous areas.
"Last night, a large amount of precipitation fell in Sochi, but there are no serious incidents caused by the bad weather. Public transport, road infrastructure, and utility services are operating normally. Local outages are being promptly addressed," stated the city's operational headquarters. "Eight trees fell overnight, all of which were cleared quickly."
Minor, temporary road and area flooding was observed, with water receding naturally. Rivers have not overflowed their banks. Emergency services (112) have not received any calls for assistance from residents or tourists. Sea turbulence persists, and swimming remains temporarily restricted.
