The press service of VDNH has announced the opening of an unusual transport artery—the sky tram, which will become a new year-round attraction at the "Orion" amusement park. This facility is the longest cable car in Moscow, with a route length of 769 meters.
The cable car cabins are situated at a height of 32 meters, making it one of the tallest structures of its kind in amusement parks worldwide. The attraction will also serve a logistical function. The duration of the ride will be about six minutes, while making the same journey on foot would take approximately 12 minutes.
The spherical cabins are inspired by spacecraft from the works of writer Kir Bulychev. Their design embraces a retro-futuristic style. Each of the 18 cabins can accommodate up to 8 people, and up to 1,000 people can travel the cable car in an hour.
The press service explained that the system operates on positive energy: the cabins are continuously recharged as they pass through "charging rings." Passengers can also recharge with positivity, as the sky tram stations offer stunning views that can be enjoyed through binoculars. The station pavilions won the Moscow Architecture Award in 2023.
The cable car will operate on Mondays from 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM, and from Tuesday to Thursday from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM. On Fridays, weekends, and holidays, it will run from 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM.
