The press service of the National Park "Land of the Leopard" reported that a planned study of the water of Astafyev Bay did not reveal any deviations. Chemical and microbiological parameters were within the normal range throughout the recreational season.

“An analysis of samples for microbiology revealed that the protected water area has retained exemplary cleanliness. A high concentration of biologically valuable species of benthos was noted: sea urchins, mussels, trepang, which indicates the effectiveness of protection. All this confirmed the admissibility of the previously established limit on visiting the bay, which is 400 people per day,” the report says.

Experts concluded that the short-term presence of people in the bay does not affect the quality of the water. The water area of the bay is part of the reserve, so entry into it is possible only with permits. The coastline of Astafyev is not built up with bases and cafes, but its visitors can enjoy the beautiful scenery, white sand and clear water.

A visit to Astafyev Bay is by ticket. All funds received for visiting the reserve are directed to work to preserve the nature of southern Primorye.

“Environmental monitoring of Astafyev Bay will continue: new samples will be taken in August and September 2023. The bay is an example of the unique biodiversity nature of the Peter the Great Bay of the Sea of Japan and must be preserved for future generations.
