On October 20, the ecological route “On a Visit to the Forest” was complimented Sensory Path on the territory of the central estate of the Katunsky Biosphere Reserve.
“Unlike traditional eco-trails, the Sensory Pat is designed to give visitors the opportunity not only to get acquainted with the wild nature of Altai, but also to literally feel it in different ways through sight, touch, smell and hearing. For this purpose, various art objects and installations are located along the trail,” says a message on the reserve’s website.
For example, there are wooden models of a golden eagle, an eagle owl and a black stork with life-size wingspans. With their help, visitors will be able to estimate the size of the inhabitants.
There is also an installation that introduces the voices of animals living in the reserve - roe deer, elk, deer, hazel grouse, bean goose and others. Along the path there are also original bas-reliefs with imprints of aromatic plants of the reserve and aroma bottles that convey the smells of the local flora. And the “secret” boxes encountered along the route introduce a playful element: in them, visitors are invited to identify the contents by touch and smell.
“In addition to these objects, other educational elements are installed on the trail - interactive playgrounds and information stands. In summer, the tactile trail “Circle of Sensations” and the sports field “Forest Championship” will also be available. The trail ends with an immersion into the ethnoworld of “Altai Traditions,” where visitors can get acquainted with the life and traditions of the Altai people, as well as play national games,” the reserve said.
Employees of the environmental education department have developed quests for children and adults to make visiting the trail not only educational, but also exciting.
The opening of the route took place as part of the Meeting of children's environmental associations - Clubs of Friends of the Katunsky Nature Reserve.
