The Federation Council Committee on Federal Structure, Regional Policy, Local Self-Government and Northern Affairs, together with the Federal Agency for Ethnic Affairs, organized a meeting with the winners of the International Cultural and Educational Project "WE-Russia" within the framework of the target shift «Talents of the Arctic. Children».
According to the first deputy chairman of the Federation Council, Andrey Yatskin, such a project plays a huge role for children and the future of the whole country. He noted that the senators are ready to provide all-round support to such an undertaking. In turn, the Senator of the Russian Federation from the Komi Republic, Elena Shumilova expressed her conviction that the experience of the children participating in the project will be broadcast to all regions of our country.
The meeting with children - representatives of the indigenous peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East of the Russian Federation was also attended by a member of the Federation Council Committee on Economic Policy Eduard Isakov, a member of the Federation Council Committee on Agrarian and Food Policy and Environmental Management Gennady Ordenov, a member of the Federation Council Committee on Regulations and Parliamentary Organization Elena Shumilova, as well as representatives of Russian companies that actively support the "WE-Russia" project.
“Annual meetings of senators with children who are active participants in the project have already become traditional. The indigenous peoples of the North are the wealth of our country. Talented guys live in the North. They not only improve their level of knowledge about the traditions and culture of the multinational people of Russia, but also strive to preserve, develop and popularize the traditional culture of their peoples,” noted the Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Federal Structure, Regional Policy, Local Self-Government and Northern Affairs Alexander Akimov, representing the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) in the upper house of parliament.
The Arctic Talents project is supported by Norilsk Nickel, which operates in the Arctic region and works closely with local authorities to support the indigenous peoples of the North.
“The future of the Arctic, our common future is in the hands of young leaders who are able to successfully solve new problems, conduct a dialogue on behalf of their peoples and the whole country, who are able to discuss and are ready to find answers to the most pressing questions in various fields: in public administration, business, sports, culture, art, social activities. The project attracts talented young people and gives them the opportunity to develop the skills of leaders of the 21st century, civic identity, international communication skills, and a sense of patriotism,” stressed Andrei Grachev, Vice President of Norilsk Nickel.
Children participating in the meeting expressed their wishes and suggestions for the further development of the project.
The head of the Federal Agency for Ethnic Affairs Igor Barinov assured that the activities within the framework of the International cultural and educational project "WE-Russia" will continue.
The awards ceremony for the nominees of the competition took place in a solemn atmosphere.
A tour of the building of the upper house of the Russian parliament was organized for the children.
