As part of the Year of Ecology in Yamal, large-scale scientific work on the study of musk oxen was completed on the territory of the Ingilor Natural Park. Some studies are organized for the first time in the region in the entire history of the revival of the musk ox population. This is reported by the official website of the government of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.

"Scientists have come to the conclusion that the Yamal musk ox nursery is the only one in Russia that can produce up to 25-28 calves annually and has good prospects for further development," the report says.

The specialists also prepared a step-by-step action plan for resettling the musk ox in the Okrug until 2030. In addition, the territories most suitable for resettlement have been identified - these are the eastern part of the Tazovsky district and the mountainous parts of the Priuralsky and Shuryshkarsky districts. And in the near future - the resettlement of animals on the territory of the Polar Urals, within the boundaries of the natural park "Ingilor".

“The Yamal nursery is recognized as the largest in the world. There are two specialized nurseries in Canada and one in Alaska. But all of them are inferior to the Russian one in Yamal in terms of the number of animals. Today, on the territory of the natural park "Ingilor", which also includes the habitat of musk oxen, the aviary complex contains more than 100 individuals of the musk bull. More than 100 animals are freely grazing,” the YNAO government reported.

They also noted that in the Year of Ecology, declared by Yamal Governor Dmitry Artyukhovyi, the area of the park was increased to approximately 922 thousand hectares, which is almost 612 thousand hectares more than the territory of the park within the current boundaries.
