The Russian Union of Travel Industry has reported that Saudi Arabia has updated its forecast for the growth of Russian tourist flow. Fahd Hamidaddin, Director General of the Saudi Tourism Authority, during a reception for representatives of the Russian travel industry, stated that by 2030, they plan to attract 2 million tourists from Russia annually instead of the previously planned 800 thousand.

The country did not waste time during the coronavirus pandemic and prepared for the resumption of international tourism:it improved infrastructure and logistics, expanded airports, and developed marketing campaigns to attract tourists. Saudi Arabia is currently implementing large-scale projects to develop seaside resorts, organize major events, and implement environmental projects to conserve wildlife.

Last year, Saudi Arabia was visited by about 106 thousand Russian tourists. This figure allowed them to update the long-term forecast and set a new goal - at least 2 million guests from Russia by 2030. In the kingdom, Russians can visit various cultural heritage sites, such as the Nabataean tomb of Al-Ula and the city of Jeddah, go diving in the Red Sea,watch Formula 1 races, or participate in various festivals and listen to concerts by world stars.

Earlier, the Ministry of Economic Development reported that the authorities of the two countries are working on launching direct flights in 2025 and introducing a visa-free regime. According to experts from the Russian Union of Travel Industry, a direct flight from Russia to Saudi Arabia would be a driver for the growth of mutual tourist flows. However, this requires full-fledged flight programs, including to regions of Russia.
