Russian tourist drowned in Thailand

A Russian citizen drowned on February 1 while swimming in coastal waters of the popular Patong Beach, Phuket. According to the Bangkok Post, she arrived in Thailand with her compatriot boyfriend. They bought tickets from the Pegas agency.

According to local police, rescuers tried to reanimate a 34-year-old woman but she died shortly after being hospitalized in Patong Hospital.

According to the deputy chief of the Patong police station, the name of the deceased was not disclosed. An alarm signal was received at around 9 a.m. local time. According to eyewitnesses, a couple of Russians took turns swimming in the sea, as one of them remained on land to protect their belongings. During the next round, about 30 meters from the beach, the woman drowned.
