Currently, on behalf of Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, a federal tourism scheme for territorial and spatial planning "Far East" is being worked out, Chernyshenko said at the session "Journey to the East: Opportunities for Investors and Tourists" at the WEF.
It included the territories of the Kamchatka Territory, the Sakhalin Region and the Primorsky Territory, according to a press release from Roscongress, citing the Deputy Prime Minister. Based on the results of this work, proposals for the creation of 12 resorts will be formed already this year. In particular, it is planned to work out urban planning documentation and the concept of their development. In addition, analytics will be presented in order to develop the tourist flow, transport logistics and tourism in general in these territories.
According to the head of the Federal Tourism Agency, Zarina Doguzova, the regions of the Far East have untapped potential in the hospitality industry.
Anton Perin, senior managing banker of the VEB.RF business block, noted that at the moment there is a clear discrepancy between price and quality in the tourism sector in the Far East, a trip there costs 2.5 times more than the national average, according to a press release.
“Only 10% of the rooms are up to standard. But a trip to the Far East is a dream trip that people are willing to save up for, so we fully support doubling the tourism forecast. The potential is huge, and our job is to realize it,” he said.
