In the Caucasus, July 15 is celebrated as the Day of the Persian Leopard. This is due to the fact that it was on this day in 2016 that three individuals of the leopard were reintroduced for the first time in the Caucasus. They were raised and reared at the Caucasus Leopard Recovery Center.

Today, the Leopard Recovery Center in the Caucasus contains thirteen animals, of which three - male Leo, female Khosta and female Laura - were born in 2020.

Now the cattery is preparing 6 cats for release into the wild.

Experts give them "exams" on their ability to survive in nature on their own. At the end of the "exams" experts will give recommendations on which cats can be released into the wild and which ones not yet.

In 2019, the Central Asian leopard was included in the list of priority species of the federal project "Conservation of biodiversity and development of ecotourism" within the national project "Ecology".
