Russia and Kazakhstan have agreed to cooperate in the field of tourism. An intergovernmental agreement was signed during Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to Kazakhstan. The Ministry of Economic Development of Russia announced this on its website.
"The agreement creates a legal framework and reflects all promising areas of cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan in the field of tourism. Its implementation will allow for joint work on creating cross-border tourist routes, training personnel for tourism, attracting investments in this sector, as well as developing cruise shipping and a joint marketing policy," the statement said.
According to the ministry, it was Kazakhstan that sent the largest number of visitors to Russia in 2023 – they made 2.2 million trips. In addition, Kazakhstan ranks third (after Abkhazia and Turkey) among foreign destinations chosen by Russian tourists (2.7 million trips last year). And in the first three quarters of this year, the total tourist flow between the two countries amounted to almost 4 million trips.
"The agreement will give a new impetus to the development of tourism between Russia and Kazakhstan and will contribute to increasing mutual tourist flows," the Ministry of Economic Development noted.
