Rosa Khutor Resort Gets Its Own Rose Variety

Roses from Central Russia will have to take root in the mountainous Black Sea region at an altitude of 560 meters above sea level. On April 24, a rose garden with 65 bushes of the new variety "Kurort Rosa Khutor" appeared at the Rosa Khutor resort in the Rosa Dolina. The planting of seedlings was attended by the Chairman of the All-Russian organization "Gardeners of Russia", TV presenter, blogger with an audience of about 2 million subscribers, and founder of the newspaper "6 Sotok" Andrei Tumanov. It was he who came up with the idea of naming one of the new rose varieties after the mountain resort.

As the famous gardener notes: "When I first visited Rosa Khutor, I was sure that the resort got its name in honor of a beautiful flower. However, it turned out that it comes from the name of the owner of the farmstead, Adul Rooza, who owned this land in the century before last. It seemed interesting to me then to do the opposite and give the name of the resort to a new variety of roses. Roman Usynin from Ryazhsk, an experienced breeder who has been doing this for more than a decade, responded to the call. His "Rose and Garden" farm is well known among lovers of these flowers."

Roman Usynin provided a new variety of Russian bush rose, which, in his opinion, deserves to bear the name "Rosa Khutor". "I tried to give this variety the qualities that most fully characterize the image of the mountain resort – tall, like mountains, stems, bright and large buds, a light aroma, and excellent winter hardiness. I hope that this beauty, born in the Ryazan land, will blossom in the Caucasus and become a true decoration of the famous mountain resort," the breeder noted.

The Rosa Khutor resort supported this initiative, and now there will be a rose garden with the same name, which will become another attraction for lovers of beautiful photos in the summer season.

The new rose variety "Kurort Rosa Khutor" will be included in two main Russian public catalogs: Rosebook (https://www.rosebook.ru/) and RoseCatalog (https://rosecatalog.ru/).
