The Ranipur Tiger Reserve (RTR) in Bundelkhand region is now Uttar Pradesh’s fourth and India’s 53rd tiger reserve. The news was shared by union environment minister Bhupender Yadav. He took to his Twitter account to make the announcement. In his tweet, he congratulated everyone involved and wrote, "Congratulations all! Happy to inform that Ranipur Tiger Reserve in Uttar Pradesh has become the 53rd tiger reserve of India."

The minister further wrote, "Spread over 530 sqkm the new tiger reserve will strengthen our tiger conservation efforts.” Congratulations all! Happy to inform that Ranipur Tiger Reserve in Uttar Pradesh has become the 53rd tiger reserve of India. Spread over 529.36 sq km (core area 230.32 sq km & buffer area 299.05 sq km), the new tiger reserve will strengthen our tiger conservation efforts.

The Ranipur Tiger Reserve in Chitrakoot district is situated some 150 km from the Panna Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh. The place is home to tigers, leopards, sloth bears, sambar, spotter deer and chinkara. Besides, one can also spot a wide variety of birds and reptiles inside the park. For those who don’t know, Ranipur Wildlife Sanctuary was actually founded in 1977 and is a part of the government’s efforts for the protection and conservation of tigers. Though there are no tigers inside the Ranipur Wildlife Sanctuary right now, the officials often see pugmarks in the region. This means that there are tigers nearby, who visit the place from the Panna Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh. Soon, Ranipur Tiger Conservation Foundation will also be formed in the region for protection of the tigers in the region.
