Employees of the security department of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Zapovednoe Podlemorie" (Buryatia) conduct round-the-clock patrolling of the water area under their jurisdiction on Baikal, where the spawning season is currently underway. They found high-speed boats with unidentified persons on board, and when they tried to check their documents,the unknown persons fled.
After that, fishing nets were found installed in the water areas of the Barguzin Reserve and the Zabaikalsky National Park.
"In the first case, it was 1.6 km of nets, in the second - 600 meters. Protocols on the изъятия сетей were drawn up on these facts. In one of the cases, the amount of damage is significant, which entails the initiation of a criminal case. The materials will be transferred to law enforcement agencies to decide on the initiation of a criminal case," - reported on the website of "Zapovednoe Podlemorie".
In connection with the spawning, the rules of fishing for the Baikal fishery basin have introduced a period prohibited for the extraction of aquatic biological resources, prohibiting the catching of char, lenok and taimen.Everywhere it is from April 25 to June 25. The catching of whitefish species is also limited, the message says.
"In fact, every case of poaching now, during the spawning season, causes immeasurable damage to the ecology of Baikal. The Federal State Budgetary Institution "Zapovednoe Podlemorie" is located in Buryatia, under its protection there are three ООПТ, located on the northeastern coast of Baikal. These are the Barguzin Reserve, the Frolikhinsky Zakaznik and the Zabaikalsky National Park.
