Mospriroda on its website announced the launch of a large-scale contest-quest #SnegirGO, timed to coincide with World Wildlife Day, which will be celebrated on March 3. Throughout the winter, from December 1 to February 28, participants will need to take pictures of bullfinches, which are called one of the most beautiful "winter" birds in Moscow.
“Photohunting can be conducted in the natural areas of the capital, in your yard, in the nearest park or in any other place,” Mospriroda noted.
At the same time, experts urge you not to disturb the birds, do not come close to them and in no case take them in your hands.
“Photographs that, in addition to bullfinches, depict people are not allowed to participate. Let's respect the personal space of birds and take care of the feathered world," the Mospriroda said in a statement. According to the rules for participating in the quest, you need to take a photo of the bullfinches, post it on your social network page with a description of where and when the bird with the red breast was found. You also need to add the hashtags #Mospriroda and #SnegirGO.
The results will be summed up in March. The author whose photo gets the most likes will "get a cool prize." The most original and striking images will be published on the Mospriroda website and on its official page on VKontakte. According to experts, bullfinches are easiest to find at bird feeders and in thickets of shrubs and trees, where birds get natural food. “To attract this species of birds, you can put dried berries of mountain ash, hawthorn, viburnum, as well as seeds of various species: maples, ash trees, elms, etc. into feeders. Bullfinches are typical seed-eaters,” the Mospriroda said.
