Over a million foreign tourists visited Moscow in the first half of this year. The Russian capital is chosen for business trips, culinary discoveries, and leisure with family and friends. This is reported on the website of the Moscow Tourism Committee.
"Over the past six months, the flow of tourists to Moscow from far abroad has increased by 70% compared to the same period in 2023. The leaders in terms of the number of visitors were China, Turkey, India, and the Asia-Pacific region," the committee quotes Moscow Deputy Mayor Natalia Sergunina.
Visitors from China made about 190 thousand visits to the Russian capital during this period, from Turkey - 35.2 thousand, and from India - 28.5 thousand trips. Approximately 260.6 thousand travelers arrived in Moscow from the Asia-Pacific region, and 17.2 thousand people - from Latin America.
"The city attracts travelers with its architectural heritage, culture, pedestrian streets and embankments, parks, numerous cafes and restaurants, as well as a diverse events program," the message says.
In addition, the tourism committee notes that there are more business travelers in Moscow, and 40% of them later return to the capital for a family vacation.
According to the department, the foreign tourist flow to Moscow for the entire last year amounted to 2.3 million people.
