Over 50 Illegal Dumpsites to Be Eliminated in Russia by Year's End

The press service of the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources reported that by the end of the year, it is planned to eliminate 56 unauthorized dumpsites in 37 Russian regions. These sites are located near populated areas, negatively impacting people's lives.

The elimination of dumpsites is being carried out within the framework of the "Clean Country" project. To date, work has been completed in Mordovia, North Ossetia, Krasnodar Territory, Kaluga Region, Kirov Region, and St. Petersburg.Currently, the liquidation of 56 dumpsites with a total area of 960 hectares is ongoing. Work is underway in Sevastopol,Primorsky and Perm Krais, Murmansk and Moscow Regions, as well as in other regions of the country.

Experts will take samples of soil, water, and air at each site. If, after the elimination of the dumpsites, the excess of established maximum permissible concentrations persists, the work will not be accepted.

By the end of 2024, under the federal project "Clean Country" of the national project "Ecology", the number of liquidated dumpsites in Russia will reach 191.
