“Every Saturday until August 20, young opera voices of the city will perform works from the repertoire of Fyodor Chaliapin from the balcony of house No. 11b at the Korolenko Street,” as per the website of the Zapovednye Quarters project for the revival of the historical environment.
The great opera singer often visited his friend Maxim Gorky, who in 1900-1901 lived in the house. According to the organizers of the festival, at that time this building was a place of attraction for the creative intelligentsia, and people often gathered under the balcony to listen to Chaliapin's singing.
“And now, after more than 100 years, singing will sound again from the balcony of the famous house where Fyodor Chaliapin sang,” the message says.
