The ice sculpture festival "KronShlyod" will take place from January 1 to 14 at the Naryshkin Bastion of the Peter and Paul Fortress in St. Petersburg. It will showcase the works of 20 top sculptors - world champions, winners, and prize-winners of international ice and snow sculpture championships and competitions from Russia, Kazakhstan, and Belarus. This was reported by the city's tourist portal Visit-Petersburg.ru.
"This year's festival theme is 'From Peter the Great to the Present Day: St. Petersburg - The 21st-Century Metropolis.' Artists and sculptors will focus on stories from life, people's emotions, precisely and subtly carved from ice. And of course, the myths and legends of the Northern Capital. Hermitage cats, hares of the Peter and Paul Fortress, the romance of St. Petersburg rooftops, long-awaited meetings at the station, and summer walks. These and many other themes will come to life in skillfully executed compositions that illustrate the unique spirit of our city," the portal notes.
The ice art festival will feature works of various sizes - from miniature statues and small architectural forms to volumetric figures and large-scale installations. Each sculpture will be complemented by an individual light score to create a magical atmosphere.
