Visitors will be able to enter the restored Notre Dame Cathedral for free from December 8, but by appointment, and groups of pilgrims will have to wait until February 2025, public relations representative Sybille Bellamy-Brown said.
"A reservation opened two days in advance will provide a fixed entry slot. (...) Starting in February, groups of pilgrims will be accepted by appointment and in groups of up to ten people," she told reporters. According to Bellamy-Brown, the cathedral is expected to receive 40,000 people daily.
The largest fire in the history of Notre Dame Cathedral occurred in April 2019. The flames that raged for more than 12 hours brought down the spire of the Gothic temple and destroyed the unique wooden roof frame made of 800-year-old oak beams.
The total budget for the restoration of the cathedral is about 850 million euros.
The bill received proposals from regions, the Presidential Administration, the Security Council, federal agencies, public organizations, and nearly 1,500 citizen appeals.
The forum, which brought together experts from a wide range of industries, hosted approximately 50 business events across three thematic areas: economics and investment, architecture and integrated territorial development, and tourism and hospitality.
