Norilsk Nickel will allocate two billion rubles to finance a program for the socio-economic development of the indigenous peoples of the North living on the Taimyr Peninsula.

The allocated funds will go to their practical needs and needs. This was announced by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the company Andrey Bugrov during the International Forum "Public-Private Partnership in the Sphere of Sustainable Development of Indigenous Peoples" in Murmansk.

"This program is valid until 2024 and includes more than 40 initiatives. In particular, one of the communities asked to build a room for them to store venison at low temperatures. Another community needs to build a club. The third community, which specializes in the production of handicrafts , sewing costumes and making national jewelry, asked the sewing workshop. When this program is completed, we will conduct a series of dialogues and surveys of community members to find out their needs. Based on this, we will prepare the next program, "Andrey Bugrov emphasized.

According to him, the main thing in such work is to prioritize the assistance provided by Norilsk Nickel, focus on the most pressing needs, and then, as the program develops and meets the needs of communities, expand the range of financial assistance and the coverage of various initiatives.

“I think that development will go in this direction, since the main task is to provide support to indigenous peoples who lead a rather difficult and complex way of life and management, located in hard-to-reach areas. It is important for the company to provide them with protection and support for their traditional way of life,” Andrey Bugrov emphasized.

Recall that the company also actively finances the construction of housing for China. So, six new residential buildings were completed in the village of Volochanka. In the summer, two houses were built in the village of Ust-Avam. In 2023, it is planned to hand over seven more houses. Also, the Nganasan community "Nemu Huaala" (Hare Stone) received funding for the project of a new woodworking workshop, RG.ru reports.
