Stanislav Seleznev, Vice President for Ecology and Industrial Safety at Norilsk Nickel, speaking at the presentation of the results of the Big scientific expedition, said that the company plans to continue to participate in fundamental scientific research.

"The company is conducting these studies in spite of everything, in spite of the current situation ... and some skepticism when we started doing this," Seleznev said.

According to him, the company is regularly engaged in basic research and is not going to stop on that. Recently, the second stage of the Big scientific expedition was completed, which was attended by representatives of Norilsk Nickel and the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Seleznev said that during the expedition, new innovative methods of applying molecular genetic research were used.

"We have come to the development of an environmental quality indicator. Of course, the company will not stop there. This will continue. Once again, we urge you to join this study, make it regular and large-scale. To conduct it nationwide, and not only as an initiative from individual companies," Seleznev added.

Andrey Grachev, Vice President of Norilsk Nickel for Federal and Regional Programs, highlighted the importance of combining the scientific, governmental and business forces. He said that since 2024, Norilsk Nickel and the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences have conducted six expeditions.

"The statistics are impressive. 280 scientists from 20 scientific institutes worked in the territories where we operate and which are adjacent to these zones. The expedition started only from Taimyr, now it has expanded its borders to the Trans-Baikal Territory, the Murmansk Region," Grachev said.

"Our results are amazing. Scientists give us the recommendations that form the basis of our environmental programs. This is a great thing. Of course, we understand that science very often faces the problem of not being heard. We hear, we know, we use what scientists tell us. I want to say that fundamental science at Norilsk Nickel is serious and for a long time," he said.
