The Ministry of Economic Development of Russia has announced that it will organize a familiarization tour for Russian tour operators to Tanzania in November at the invitation of the African authorities.
"Based on the results of the trip, a line of new tourist products to this country will be prepared, which will be a solid foundation for organizing charter flights," the ministry's website says.
The topic of developing the African tourist destination was discussed at the "Travel!" forum in Moscow. During one of the sessions, Director of the Department of Multilateral Economic Cooperation and Special Projects of the Ministry of Economic Development Nikita Kondratyev said that Russian tourists are already actively traveling to African countries. So in 2023, they made 1.3 million trips there, which is 1.4 times higher than the indicators of 2022. However, so far, Russians more often choose such popular destinations on our market as Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco or the Seychelles.
"For Russian tourists, comfort is in the first place. The presence of a developed tourist infrastructure and a guarantee of a safe stay in the country play a primary role. A good hotel, a comfortable room, a transfer, the ability to travel by taxi and pay for any goods or services with a MIR card - all this is extremely important for our tourists," Kondratyev's words are quoted in the message.
He noted that the forecast for the development of mutual tourism in the medium term is positive. At the same time, most players in the Russian tourism market are poorly informed about the possibilities of African countries.
"Russian tour operators should tell their clients and everyone who is not indifferent to exciting travels that in such interesting countries as Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Malawi and Zimbabwe, you can get a bright, unforgettable experience - go on a safari tour, visit unique national parks and nature reserves," Kondratyev believes.
Overall, the presentation of new routes in Tanzania to Russian tour operators is a positive step that will help to develop tourism between the two countries. This will make Tanzania more accessible to Russian tourists and will contribute to the economic development of the region.
