A new audio guide for the town of Epifan has been launched, offering visitors a chance to explore this historic town known for its Cossack and merchant traditions.
The press service of the Kulikovo Pole Museum-Reserve announced the launch of the new audio guide for the settlement of Epifan, which is called the "northern front gates" of Russia's First Battlefield. The geolocation-based guide is available on the largest international free platform izi.travel.
The audio guide "Epifan. Business People" will be especially useful for independent travelers and will tell them about the main attractions of the ancient town, known for its Cossack and merchant traditions.
The guide is narrated by Sergei Kusakin, a senior researcher at Kulikovo Pole and a local historian. His voice will lead tourists through the quiet, cozy streets of the former large district town, where enterprising merchants and traders lived in the 19th century. Listeners can enjoy 17 short stories about the everyday life, leisure, trading features, and charitable activities of the famous dynasties of Epifan merchants.
Tourists will learn the history of the Museum of Merchant Life, formerly the estate of merchant Anton Baibakov, who traded mainly in hardware. The audio guide will also tell about the new Collection Storage Center of Kulikovo Pole, as well as the difficult fate of the Nikolsky Cathedral. Tourists will learn what the "sideltsy" and "running boys" did in trading shops, who were called "razgildyai", what old game became the main hobby in the Ovodovov merchants' family,and much more.
The narration of the audio guide is conducted in literary language, understandable to both adults and children, and the material on the platform's website is supplemented with images from the museum-reserve's collection.
