The federal reserve "Kirzinsky" has completed biotechnical work, the main purpose of which is to prepare for the winter period. This was reported on the website of the joint directorate of the Sayano-Shushensky Reserve and the Shushensky Bor National Park.

“Employees completed all the necessary biotechnical work on time. Food resources for the safe wintering of animals in this area have been prepared,” as per the report.

Such events have been held in the reserve for the twelfth year, and they have proven their effectiveness. In particular, we are talking about work in the fodder fields, which in winter provide support for animals.

“Fertile fodder fields with sunflower and leguminous crops brought a bountiful harvest. The state inspectors of the reserve, who are experienced machine operators, prepared an oat-pea and alfalfa mixture, pressed into rolls, and evenly distributed throughout the protected area of the reserve. This is necessary so that the populations of Siberian roe deer, elk and wild boar can successfully winter in conditions of snowfall,” the directorate said.

Biotechnical work in the Kirzinsky reserve is needed to support not only ungulates, but also feathered inhabitants of this protected natural area.

“In the fodder fields with crops of oats and wheat in the center of the reserve, not far from the central nature protection cordon of the former settlement of Novokrasulino, there is already a massive accumulation of black grouse. Their number is currently more than 3,000 individuals. Another frequent visitor to these fields is the gray goose. In the summer, these birds with broods can be observed from the windows of the cordon, and in autumn they form numerous clusters for further flight,” the environmental organization said.
