The press service of Mospriroda announced the launch of an environmental campaign, in which everyone will be able to build dwellings for the smallest inhabitants of natural areas. This can be done until August 31st.
The main objective of the campaign is to increase the number of useful fauna and preserve valuable insects. Makeshift hotels should be brought to eco-centers. Mospriroda specialists will take care of placing them in specially protected natural areas in the shade under a canopy.
Osmia bees, lacewings, ladybugs, riders, hoverflies and ground beetles will be able to settle in the houses. In addition, solitary bees or caterpillars can use the hotel before becoming pupae.
The dwelling may be in the form of a birdhouse but without a front wall. Side walls and a roof made of boards 1–2 cm thick or plywood 4–6 mm thick will protect small tenants from wind and precipitation. The interior space of the house can be filled with: dry stems of plants, such as nettle, horse sorrel, as well as sticks and twigs of coniferous trees.
In such hotels, it is also necessary to make a metal or wood front grill to protect the inhabitants of the dwelling from bird attacks. In addition, you can make a dwelling from cones or cut tree trunks.
Man-made houses are especially needed by insects during the cold season. During a mild winter, they can be placed at different heights, but in a cold winter, for normal wintering of insects, it is necessary to provide for the possibility of lowering the hotel to the ground so that it is covered with snow and it is warm there.
Participants discussed the boundary between nature and ecotourism, whether mass visits to unique areas can remain safe, the responsibilities of investors, and how to prepare tourists for visiting specially protected natural areas.
The head of state expressed confidence that the Forum will be held at a high level, and that its results will contribute to the development of tourism in Russia and the expansion of humanitarian and business ties.
