Mospriroda (Department for PA management of Moscow Region) specialists spoke about the benefits of ecotherapy, which helps to replenish mental and physical strength, overcome fatigue and blues.

“Ecotherapy is a relationship between a person and nature, aimed at preventing and restoring health, as well as one of the ways of psychological support, since connection with nature affects the psycho-emotional state of a person,” the message on the Mospriroda website says.

One of the areas of ecotherapy is art plein air. According to experts, drawing in nature has a beneficial effect on a person’s psychological health, uplifting, adjusting to peace of mind and distracting from negative thoughts.

Another direction is communication with animals.

“Zootherapy is a technique used in psychotherapy. Some variations of zootherapy have received their own names. For example, treatment with horses - hippotherapy, dolphins - dolphin therapy, cats - feline therapy, dogs - canistherapy," Mospriroda said.

Landscape therapy can also restore mental balance.

“The hustle and bustle of a big city, fast rhythm, noise and light pollution - all this affects the immune system, worsens the mental and physical condition of a person. What can help you relax better than a leisurely walk through the natural area, when you breathe clean air, look at the trees and shrubs, listen to the birds singing,” Mospriroda advises.

In addition, experts recommend dendrotherapy, because trees absorb dust and toxic gases, soften the climate and enrich the air with active substances that are beneficial to health. For example, birch, oak, maple and linden have a beneficial effect and give energy.

During a dendrotherapy session, you need to lean against the tree with your back and back of your head, relax, try not to think about anything. Stand in this position for 2-3 minutes, and then clasp the tree trunk with your hands, breathe deeply.

Another type of ecotherapy is "green tourism" in natural areas - there are conditions for hiking, jogging, Nordic walking, cycling, scooter, skiing.

Experts also single out art-ecotherapy, which contributes to the treatment of many diseases, helps to improve the state of mind.

“In 2016, the ParkArt project was launched in Mospriroda - this is art therapy for people and ecotherapy for green spaces. In other words, trees are treated with the help of fine art. Contemplation of healing drawings is a pleasure and improves mood. And cured trees - particles of the "green lungs" of the city - give us fresh and clean air for our health, while increasing the life expectancy of citizens and reducing stress levels," Mospriroda noted.
