Moscow Tops Global Cities Index for Number of Museums

The official website of the Mayor of Moscow reported that the Russian capital has surpassed other global cultural metropolises in terms of the number of museums, taking first place in the Global Cities Index 2024. Moscow has maintained its leadership in this area for over a decade.

A total of 156 cities worldwide were included in the ranking. Among them are cultural capitals such as London, Paris, Rome, Vienna, and Tokyo.

Moscow boasts a total of 450 museums. These include 145 historical, 133 art, 42 literary, 36 memorial, 31 technical, 28 natural history, and 35 other types of museums.

The Russian capital also ranked in the top 30 of the overall Global Cities Index 2024, which evaluates such areas as "Business Activity," "Human Capital," "Information Exchange," "Cultural Experience," and "Political Engagement".
