Mospriroda specialists remind that feeding animals living in natural areas in summer can harm them. This will lead to the fact that the natural instincts of animals and birds will be dulled and it will be more difficult for them to survive in the wild without human help. They may lose the skill of finding food. This is stated in a message on the Mospriroda website.

According to experts, squirrels are one of the most numerous inhabitants of Moscow's natural areas, so they often attract the attention of residents and guests of the capital.

“Many people want to take a closer look at these entertainers, luring them with something tasty. But such “kindness” will not benefit the squirrels,” as per the report.

According to experts, in the natural environment, squirrels, like other animals, are able to independently find their own food, being included in the food chain of ecosystems in natural areas.

“Even in a mild and snowy winter, animals are able to get their own food. In the natural areas of Moscow, the most natural conditions have been created for the habitat of wild animals, and here experts are trying to maintain a natural balance, so in the warm season there is no need to feed wild animals, including squirrels," the Mospriroda emphasized.

They noted that in the summer the squirrels have an extensive menu - the buds of trees and bushes, seeds, berries, some mushrooms, insects.
