The Fifth National Ecotourism Congress will be held in November 2020 on the island of Menorca, Spain, according to Cope.es.

This was announced by the President of the Ecotourism Club of Spain, Jesús María Pozuelo, last week during the IV National Congress on Ecotourism, which took place in Guadix and Sierra Nevada.

A statement was made in the presence of tourism promotion directors and biosphere reserves on the Spanish islands of Jesús Gomila and Irene Estaún. They attended the Guadix Congress and presented the initiatives put forward by Irene Estaún to promote the model of eco-tourism in Menorca.

The island of Menorca, which includes the Spain’s leading biosphere reserve, is actively involved in promoting ecological tourism. Thus, during the congress, the main areas of work were presented, in particular the island’s participation in the European DestiMED project as a pilot zone, the brand of the Menorca biosphere reserve Marca Menorca Reserva, which uses only environmentally friendly products and provides sustainable services, as well as the inclusion of Menorca to the Top 100 “green” destinations in the world (Top 100 Green destinos).

The Fourth National Ecotourism Congress was held in Spain from November 13 to 15. The main theme of this year was "Ecotourism - an opportunity for rural Spain." The congress was attended by over 200 industry leaders who took an active part in round tables and debates to exchange knowledge and experience for promoting ecotourism.

The congress was organized by the Asociación de Ecoturismo de España (AEE), which aims to promote tourism for the sustainable development and the conservation of natural values.
