Guests of the gastronomic festival will have a rich program and the opportunity to taste dishes according to medieval recipes.

The program of the Spoon and Mug festival, which will be held on May 1 at the Gnezdovo Museum-Reserve in Smolensk, includes tasting dishes cooked on a fire or in an oven, for example, Varangian salmon soup, chicken in clay on charcoal, crayfish soup and pies, according to the portal Russia.travel.

Guests will take part in a master class on cooking ancient Russian honey gingerbread in a wood-fired oven, learn traditional recipes for mead, oat kvass and ale, visit a souvenir fair and a farmer's market, shoot from a bow in a shooting range.

In addition, there will be competitions, contests and quests, performances by historical reconstruction clubs and musicians.

“The territory of the Gnezdovsky archaeological complex will be open for visitors to the festival, where they can take a tour of the medieval settlement and see how people lived in the 10th century,” as per Russia.travel.
