The extinct volcano Lemptégy, which is part of the Puy mountain range in the Auvergne region, attracts more and more tourists.
This is the only place in Europe where you can explore the depths of the crater accompanied by guides. In 2024, almost 195,000 people came to look inside the volcano, located in the very center of France – 5% more than a year earlier. In total, more than 3 million tourists have visited the site since it was opened to the public in 1992.
The Volcano Park in the south-central part of France is the largest natural area in the country, where you can admire the ridges of ancient extinct volcanoes.
