The Komi authorities have enlisted the support of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR), the Roskultcenter and the Committee for Tourism Development of St. Petersburg in promoting tourism in the republic.

The relevant agreements were signed within the framework of the First Tourist Congress of the Regions of the North held in Syktyvkar, goarctic.ru reported.

"Komi has huge opportunities in the field of tourism – from industrial, cultural and educational to adventure and youth. This is Arctic tourism, business tourism – the range of tourist products that the Komi Republic can offer at a high level is very high. You need to pack this product a little, and the whole country will know about it. The subject of our agreement is cooperation in the development and promotion of tourism, tourism business, exchange of experience and best practices," Maya Lomidze, Executive Director of ATOR, told reporters.

According to Sergey Korneev, Chairman of the St. Petersburg Tourism Development Committee, St. Petersburg and Komi will cooperate in promoting eco-tourism, since both regions have unique specially protected natural territories.

A separate emphasis is placed on the development of tourist infrastructure, noted, in turn, the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Archival Affairs of the Komi Republic Sergey Yemelyanov.

The first Tourist Congress of the regions of the North gathered about 350 authoritative experts at the federal and regional levels, representatives of 28 subjects of the Russian Federation.

During the congress, issues of promotion of territories, synergy of tourism and culture, as well as the possibility of updating the main tourist project of the Northwest – the Silver Necklace of Russia tour route were discussed.
