Istanbul became the most visited city in the world in 2023, according to the Euromonitor International rating.
Last year, 20.2 million international tourists visited Istanbul, which is 26% more than in 2022. London came in second place in the TOP 10 urban destinations in the world with 18.8 million visitors, and Dubai came in third with 16.8 million.
They are followed by Antalya (16.5 million), Paris (15.5 million), Hong Kong (14.7 million), Bangkok (12.2 million), New York (11.7 million), Cancun and Mecca (10.8 million each).
The Euromonitor International Index of the best urban destinations in 2023 evaluates 100 cities. The rating is based on 55 indicators distributed across six parameters: economic and commercial indicators, profitability of the tourism industry, tourism infrastructure, tourism policy, safety of life and health of tourists, sustainability of the hospitality industry.
