In Cape Town, a fire on the Table Mountain destroyed a relic fynbos, a small belt of natural shrubland. According to eyewitnesses from the scene of the fire, several helicopters are engaged to extinguish the fire. The road was blocked and many tourists were evacuated from the Mountain. According to local media reports, the people were also evacuated from the Botanical Garden. The fire spread quickly due to the strongest wind. Until now, the fire is not extinguished. The eyewitnesses say that it is very hard to breathe in the centre of the town.

The evacuation has begun in the district.

Presumably, the fire started through the fault of some indigenous people who make fires in the great heat in the protected areas.

The fire destroyed the floor of the University, an old 3-storey library with artifacts, as well as a Music College and an old mill with a restaurant.
