The International Winter Festival "Hyperborea" will be held in Petrozavodsk from 8 to 12 February. This is a large-scale holiday where guests ride dog sleds and sleighs, enjoy national cuisine from the Karelian chef, participate in competitions and winter fun, the Russia.travel portal reports.
“This year, guests from all over the country will again gather at the festival to admire the unusual works of the masters participating in the XXI International Ice and Snow Sculpture Competition. The theme of the festival changes every year, in 2022 it is the birthday of Peter I. You will see the emperor and his associates, domestic and military scenes, fairy tales - all this is made of sparkling ice,” the portal says.
The main day of the festival is February 12th. A concert and sports competitions are planned on the Onega embankment, and a bright winter carnival will take place along the streets of the city. In the evening, the winners of the ice and snow sculpture competition will be awarded.
Hyperborea has been held in the capital of Karelia every winter since 2002.
