From November 22 to November 25, Salekhard will become the site of the annual Forum of Youth of Indigenous Peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East of the Russian Federation "Russian North". 100 representatives from 28 regions of Russia are expected to attend, the government of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug reports on its website.
“Work on the tracks will include youth entrepreneurship, preservation and popularization of the linguistic heritage of the indigenous peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East of the Russian Federation; hospitality in the Arctic and the development of ethnotourism in the places of residence of indigenous peoples,” the message says.
Guests of the Forum will also have excursions to the places of traditional residence of the tundra dwellers, intellectual quizzes and a tournament in the northern all-around at the reindeer herding camp.
In addition, the program includes trainings and teambuilding events, master classes and panel discussions with the participation of experts and guests of honor.
Among the forum participants are young scientists, artisans, public figures and language activists.
Traditionally, a competition will be held to provide grants from the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs for the implementation of youth initiatives.
The Russian North Forum has been held since 2015. It has already been held in Moscow and the Moscow region, Tyumen, Krasnoyarsk, St. Petersburg, Khanty-Mansiysk. Last year for the first time - in Salekhard.
