The Associated Press has reported on Vietnamese government plans to build a new high-speed railway connecting Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City by 2035. The line will stretch over 1,500 kilometers and pass through 20 provinces and cities.

The estimated cost of the ambitious project is $67 billion. The new train is expected to travel at speeds of up to 350 km/h. Thanks to this, travel time from Ho Chi Minh City to the capital will be reduced from 30 to five hours.

Construction is scheduled to begin in 2027, with the first high-speed train launched in 2035. According to state media, it will carry not only people but also goods, and will also serve defense purposes.

Ho Chi Minh City is called the economic capital of Vietnam. Here you can look into the country's past and future. Over a hundred markets attract shopping enthusiasts, and numerous architectural monuments are a magnet for tourists. Currently, the fastest way to get to this southern metropolis from Hanoi is by plane. However, some travelers prefer long journeys across the country by train, bus, or car.
