The press service of the Kronotsky Nature Reserve has announced that the first gastronomic festival, "Passion Fruit," will be held in the village of Ozernovsky on the shores of the Okhotsk Sea from August 10 to 11. This event is part of the celebration of the Day of Ozernovskaya Nerka and is dedicated to the rational consumption of natural resources, as well as the use of alternative energy sources.

The festival is aptly named; residents of the village of Pauzhetka in southern Kamchatka have learned to grow not only vegetables but also exotic fruits using geothermal heat, including passion fruit.

During the event, five chefs from Chefs Team Russia will share their signature recipes and conduct workshops on preparing fish for long-term storage using local ingredients. Each dish will include valuable Pacific salmon, which has been a cornerstone resource for southern Kamchatka for over 100 years.

Festival guests will have the chance to try a variety of dishes, including salmon gefilte fish, salad with salmon, sun-dried tomatoes, and citrus, nettle soup with salmon, and gratin with salmon and fish demi-glace. For dessert, attendees can enjoy panna cotta with a sauce made from Kamchatka berries and candied cedar.

The festival's organizers aim not only to expand the diet of Kamchatka residents and introduce them to new fish dishes but also to raise awareness about the rational use of the region's biological resources. The festival is planned to be an annual event in the future.

Ozernovsky, the village hosting "Passion Fruit," is part of the eco-tourism cluster "Protected Kamchatka: Land of People, Volcanoes, and Salmon," which is designed for the sustainable economic development of the region based on ecological tourism. The project includes active participation of local residents in creating tourist products and providing services, including the development of agricultural and gastronomic tourism, as well as the production and sale of souvenir items.
