From January 1, 2025, the maximum rental period for tourist accommodation in Paris will be reduced from 120 to 90 days.

A new legislative measure by the city authorities is designed to curb the practice of illegal renting. Since the new year, owners with a divided form of ownership (timeshare) will be required to provide proof of the main purpose of the property. In case of a false statement, the violator faces a fine of 20,000 euros.

According to the estimates of the Paris Mayor's Office, 25,000 tourist housing units worth one billion euros are illegally rented in the French capital.
