Supsurfing is a relatively new type of recreation, it consists in riding on a special board with a paddle on the water surface. This sport came to Russia from abroad, and has been actively developing in the country since 2017. Now the hobby has become massive from Vladivostok to Kaliningrad. Free SUP classes in Sochi will begin in early August. They will be held on the Cuba beach of the Mamayka microdistrict. The initiator of this action was the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the Sochi City Hall with the assistance of the head of the Voda surf station, participant in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, five-time Russian sailing champion Dmitry Polishchuk.
«Classes are available to people of almost any age. We’ve trained people aged 75 years. It all depends on the weather and how you feel. And, of course, from compliance with safety regulations,» Dmitry Polishchuk explains.
Anyone can sign up for free classes. Classes are held under the guidance of an instructor.
