An annual free ecotour will take place from September 2 to 9 in the Altai region. During the journey, tourists will follow a beautiful route and clean hiking trails and camping areas from litter. The organizer, federal tour operator "Stranik," will cover all the expenses. The Russian Union of Tourism Industry (RCT) announced this information on its website.
"The Adventure Travel Club 'Stranik' organizes an annual free eco-trek to clean up mountain trails and bring some order to them. Eco-tours have been organized since 2020. During this time, approximately one ton of waste was collected, compressed, and burned," the message reads.
Cleanup efforts will take place at the foot of Mount Belukha, with the group moving along the Akkem River, through the Valley of Seven Lakes toward the Yarlu Gorge.
"This is one of the most picturesque routes in Altai," RCT noted.
According to the head of the club, Nikolay Khruzhenko, the Altai region is attracting more tourists every year, which consequently leads to higher levels of pollution.
"We care deeply about nature and strive to preserve its primordial state. Each year, more and more concerned people from various parts of the country join us — we are happy that we share a common significant goal," RCT quotes.
