The press service of the Ministry of Natural Resources reported that by the end of the year four unauthorized landfills located in the cities of Sevsk, Starodub, Seltso and Zlynka will be eliminated.

The largest of them is located in the town of Starodub. More than 180 thousand cubic meters of waste have accumulated on an area of 7.6 hectares. Near the landfill live 18 thousand people.

"Now the landfill masses are moving into a special pit, the body of the landfill is being formed, where the garbage will be safely placed with protective layers of geotextiles, geomembrane, sand and gravel. The project cost is more than 114 million rubles," the report says.

In the city of Selco, the landfill is located in the territory of the city forests, where groundwater flows close. This will require the use of dewatering technologies. The volume of waste placed on an area of more than four hectares reaches about 85 thousand cubic meters. About 56 million rubles were allocated for the liquidation of the facility.
