The first flight from Moscow on May 3rd will be operated by the Tatarstan-based airline "UVT Aero." Flights will be weekly on Saturdays, departing from Vnukovo Airport at 2:30 PM and arriving in Sukhumi at 6:20 PM. The return flight from the capital of Abkhazia is scheduled for 7:20 PM, landing in Moscow at 11:10 PM. The total travel time will be approximately four hours. The flight will be on a fifty-seat Canadian-made Bombardier CRJ-200 jet. On May 6th, the airline "Ikar" will join the flight program from Russia to Abkhazia, planning flights from Nizhny Novgorod.
"Work is underway to expand the list of air carriers interested in launching routes to Sukhumi," the Ministry of Transport reports.
The Federal Air Transport Agency has also issued permits for the operation of regular flights to Abkhazia to the airlines iFly and NordStar. In particular, iFly received permission to operate up to 14 flights per week from Moscow, and NordStar – up to seven flights per week from Krasnoyarsk.
