Firefighter paratroopers of the Trans-Baikal Forest Aviation Protection Base eliminated the fire that destroyed 13 hectares of forest in the Barguzinsky Reserve of the North Baikal District, Buryatia, Russia, as reported by the Baikal-Daily news agency.

The local rocky terrain, combined with a strong gusty wind and heat, greatly complicated the work to extinguish the forest fire.

Earlier it was reported that fires occurred in 13 districts of Buryatia.

"Work was carried out to extinguish 26 forest fires in the Barguzinsky, Bichursky, Dzhidinsky, Zaigraevsky, Zakamensky, Ivolginsky, Kabansky, Muysky, Mukhorshibirsky, Pribaikalsky, Severo-Baikalsky, Selenginsky and Tarbagatai districts. The total area covered by fire was 2,368 hectares", - the press service of the republican forestry agency said.

More than 800 people came to extinguish fires in Buryatia, local authorities involved about 135 pieces of equipment.
