The official website of the Mayor of Moscow spoke about how event tourism is developing in the capital. By the end of 2023, it has become one of the main directions of travel in the city. The average occupancy of hotels in Moscow peaked precisely on the days of major events.

The report notes that due to the events, the seasonal flow of guests in city hotels has increased compared to 2022. During the days of forums and festivals, the increase in hotel occupancy was up to 14%.

"Moscow's event agenda has become one of the factors due to which the seasonal flow of guests in city hotels has increased compared to 2022 as a whole, and some indicators have overtaken even the doctored ones. So, if in the fall of 2019 79 percent of the places in the capital's hotels were occupied, then in 2023 - 82 percent," the Moscow authorities note.

The highest hotel occupancy rate in the capital during large-scale events was recorded in the summer. During the days of the XII Moscow Urban Forum and the long weekend in honor of Russia Day, it reached 89%. At the same time, the average summer load was about 77 percent. This year's November holidays saw the opening of the International Exhibition and Forum "Russia". These days, the peak occupancy of city hotels was also recorded — 88%.

"There are many events in the capital that attract tourists from other regions and countries. Most travelers want to see the sights, get new experiences, and try new travel formats. The Moscow poster fully meets their requests," the message says.
